9-year-old boy seriously hurt after Jeep strikes him on his bike

ELKRIDGE, Md. — A 9-year-old boy is suffering life-threatening injuries after a car struck him on his bike Friday evening in Elkridge, according to Howard County Police.

Police say a little before 4:30 p.m., a Jeep Wrangler driving eastbound on the 6100 block of Hunt Club Road hit a 9-year-old boy on his bicycle. Police believe the boy was struck after he rode his bike on the road from a residential driveway.

The boy was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Officials said the driver of the Jeep was not injured and reportedly stayed on the scene after the incident.
