45-year-old man in critical condition; police are investigating cause of crash

Howard County police are investigating a single car crash in Ellicott City that left two people seriously injured.

On Saturday, at about 7:10 p.m., a 2015 McLaren Spider was traveling eastbound on Carroll Mill Road, east of Mount Albert Road, when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck some trees.

The driver, 45-year-old Eric Todd Pakulla, of Ellicott City, was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and is currently in critical condition. The passenger, 46-year-old Renee Antoinette Jefferson, also of Ellicott City, was taken to Shock Trauma and is currently in stable condition.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Carroll Mill Road was closed between Folly Quarter Road and Triadelphia Road for about two hours.
