Three firefighters suffer heat exhaustion while battling a blaze caused by lightning.
Howard County Fire and Rescue officials say the incident happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 5200 block of Sweet Meadow Lane in Clarksville.
A neighbor called 911 after hearing a loud noise and stepping outside to discover flames coming from the roof of the residence.
Upon their arrival, crews encountered the attic and a portion of the roof on fire and were able to quickly gain control.
No occupants were home at the time.
Three firefighters suffered heat exhaustion and were taken to a hospital as a precaution.
The Fire Marshal on scene determined lightning to be the cause.
