UPDATE:
According to Howard County Police, a 23-year-old man later identified as Micah Booker stabbed his brother, 26-year-old Samuel Louie Booker IV several times and then fled from a home on Wilbur Court in Columbia. Booker remains in critical condition at Shock Trauma.
The involved police officer is identified as Michael McKee, a two-year veteran of the department.

The suspect called police around 7:30 p.m. Monday, admitting to stabbing his brother. When officers arrived to the area near Oakland Mills Road, they said they saw the man holding the spear.
He then began to approach the officers, who repeatedly told him to drop the weapon. When he didn't do so, an officer shot him. He died at the scene.
The brother was rushed Shock Trauma in critical condition. No names have been released.

A 23-year-old man armed with a 30-inch double edged spear was shot and killed by Howard County Police, according to authorities Monday night.
Officers are in the area of Carters Lane and Oakland Mills Road in Columbia on the scene of a police-involved shooting involving a 23-year-old man who was armed with a large double edge spear. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Howard County Police said on X the 23-year-old man stabbed a family member several times before leaving a nearby residence.
It happened in the area of Carters Lane and Oakland Mills road.
The family member has been hospitalized with critical injuries.
