One woman and a dog died in a Glenwood house fire Wednesday afternoon, Howard County Fire and EMS officials said.
The fire happened around 2:30 p.m. in the basement of a house in the 2800 block of Glenwood Springs Drive.
Deena Rae Brewer, 61, was found in the basement. A dog inside the home also died.
All other occupants escaped the residence before firefighters arrived. The family is being supported by the Mobile Crisis team and the county's Fire and Rescue Services chaplain.
Fifty personnel, including units from Carroll and Montgomery counties, responded to the scene. Damage to the home is about $50,000.
Howard County Police are investigating.
