BGE has restored power to nearly every customer impacted by Bel Air outage

1/1 update: At the time of this writing:

  • All traffic signals in Bel Air are operational
  • No police services were interrupted
  • Pennsylvania Avenue remains closed between Main Street and Hickory Avenue
  • BGE crews remain on scene in the unit block of Pennsylvania Avenue for repair work
  • Power outages remain in the immediate Main Street area

9:49 p.m. update: Six of seven customers have had their power restored. According to BGE, the seventh is a business which will open tomorrow morning.

8:17 p.m. update:

BGE crews are at the scene. 440 customers were impacted.

All but seven customers have services restored.

BGE is working as quickly as possible to bring back service for the seven remaining customers.

The cause of the outages is under investigation.

5:13 p.m. update: Bel Air Police say that several traffic signals are currently not working in the area and remind drivers to treat all non-functioning traffic signals as four-way stops.


ORIGINAL: A utility pole fire in Bel Air caused power outages in the immediate surrounding area as well as a road closure on Wednesday afternoon.

Pennsylvania Ave was closed between Hickory Ave and Main Street, according to the Bel Air Police Department.

Firefighters and BGE's crews responded to the scene.

As of 4:50 p.m., no power outages were reported in the area.

Police tell WMAR-2 News no one at the scene was injured.
