A threat made against Aberdeen Middle School on social media turned out to be unfounded.
Aberdeen Police say Tuesday just before 7:30 a.m. they received information about a threat on Instagram about a shooting at Aberdeen Middle School.
The School Resource Officer and Chief of Safety and Security at Harford County Public Schools were immediately notified and the threat was investigated.
An unknown person sent a message to several students through a new social media app called "Sarahah."
The app is based in another country and it can be linked to an Instagram account.
It was determined the threat was not credible.
Classes went on Tuesday as normal.
The school was placed on a modified lockdown and access to the building was limited.
