Sandbags available for Harford County residents prepping for Hurricane Florence

Harford County residents looking to fortify their homes from potential weekend flooding can scoop up some sand for sandbags in Joppa, the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company said Tuesday.

The sand will be delivered to Robert Copenhaver Park at 664 Trimble Road. The sand is strictly for sandbags. Residents must bring their own shovels and bags to fill.

Hurricane Florence has been upgraded to a Category 4 storm. It is expected to make landfall south of the Baltimore area, but it is expected to bring additional rain and high winds to an area already soaked by record rain this summer. A State of Emergency has been issuedahead of the storm's projected weekend arrival. State agencies are coordinating their responses to potential weather-related issues.
