Police found an injured, hypothermic man lying in the snow while investigating an animal complaint in Harford County.

Around 5 a.m. Sunday, Aberdeen Police officers were called to the 200 block of East Bel Air Avenue to investigate reports of an injured animal in the area.

When they arrived in the area, officers heard human -- not animal -- cries from behind a snow-covered home.

Behind the home police found an elderly man who was severely injured and suffering from hypothermia lying in the snow. Officers carried him inside his home and started treating him.

The man had been out in the snow for several hours and needed medical attention, according to police. Because of the weather conditions Sunday, officers used a four wheel drive police vehicle to get the man to an ambulance waiting nearby.

The man was taken to Harford Memorial Hospital where he remained in stable condition Tuesday.

Harford County received more than 30 inches of snow in some areas during the course of Winter Storm Jonas this past weekend.
