Deb Hardy lost her daughter 15 years ago to a drunk driver. Now she is standing at a sobriety checkpoint in Harford County to make sure citizens are safe this Memorial Day weekend.

"Drunk driving is 100 percent preventable," Hardy said. "There shouldn't be any reason as to why someone is drunk driving on our roadways impaired."

The Harford County Sheriff's Officer has set up three checkpoints in the area to keep drunk holiday drivers off the road.

"We're looking for any signs of impairment as you come through the checkpoint. You're required by law to stop for one of the deputies and the State Police are also conducting a checkpoint as well," said Harford County Sheriff.

In 2018, the department was able to arrest four drunk drivers during their Memorial Day checkpoints.

Be safe, don't drink and drive!
