Early morning house fire in Edgewood; several fire companies assisted

Early Saturday morning, several volunteer fire companies and departments teamed up in an effort to put out a fire at a home in Edgewood.

At 5:21 a.m., the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company’s Hook and Ladder Truck arrived at the 2900 block of Siwanoy Drive to help the Abingdon Fire Company extinguish a fire from a two story home.

However, the Aberdeen Proving Ground, the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company and the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company also showed up to assist.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, the fire started as a vehicle fire and, fom there, spread to the home. Firefighters from the Joppa-Magnolia VFC helped one occupant and his dog get safely out of the house.

The fire was declared out at 6:43 a.m. and no injuries were reported.
