Crews battled multiple field fires throughout Harford County early Thursday evening.

Harford County Fire & EMS officials said Route 1/Conowingo Road near Cliffs Liquors in Darlington was closed due to a woods fire in the area.

Multiple fire houses have been working the incidents.  Maryland State Police aviation was able to provide an estimate of the size and containment.  They said that the burn area was 5 acres wide.

Officials said there was no danger to any homes in the area.

"Please be careful with non extinguished burning materials, such as cigarette butts," officials said on their Facebook page.  Fire officials also discourage bonfire burning because of increased winds.

The fires were under control shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday.
