A child was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter after they fell from their bike Monday afternoon in Abingdon.
Units from the Abingdon Fire Company were alerted to a child who fell from their bicycle in the area of Yellow Brick Court and Laurel Valley Court shortly after 4:30 p.m.
Initial reports at the scene said that the child was struck by a trash truck, which cannot be confirmed by officials.
Due to a possible serious head injury, the child was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a regional trauma center.
Officials say the child remains in serious condition.
