DARLINGTON, Md. — A bald eagle was found stranded on a rocky bank in the Susquehanna River in Susquehanna State Park on Friday.

After research assistant, John Garrison rescued the bird, the eagle was transported to Chadwell Animal Hospital where it was found to be blind.

According to the Susquehannock Wildlife Society, the bird would not be likely to survive in the wild since its ability to safely fly and hunt are impaired.

The Susquehannock Wildlife Society says that the eagle is being transferred to Tri-State Bird Rescue in Delaware who will ensure that if the bird is healthy enough that it will live out the rest of its days as an ambassador for its species.
