A train car traveling over 100 miles per hour separated on Tuesday while passing through Havre De Grace.
Officials with Amtrak say the 'Acela Express' was going up to 120 miles an hour when the cars separated. The company told ABC2 News the train car separation was caused by mechanical issues.
There were around 52 passengers on the train at the time that had to be transferred to another car. There were no reported injuries to customers or crew members.
Amtrak sent the following statement,
We are currently investigating the cause of the car separation, inspecting every Acela trainset, and taking any necessary actions to prevent a reoccurrence.
