ABERDEEN, Md. — An Aberdeen school teacher is hoping the community will help chip in to renovate a local basketball park.

Brandon Selby, a high school teacher and the boy’s varsity basketball coach at Aberdeen High School, started a GoFundMe campaign to renovate the courts at Victory Street Park. So far the campaign has raised a little less than $500, with a goal of reaching $5,000.

The goal was to install two new basketball goals (including poles, rims, backboards, and nets), paint the court, and build benches outside of the court so people can sit and enjoy the action, according to the GoFundMe page.

“I KNOW this will not be an easy task, but I am prepared and determined to make my vision a reality with the help of the community,” Selby said in the post.
