For 100 years, our men and women of the military have left their homes in Havre de Grace, Darlington and Abingdon to work at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
They make the Army stronger, smarter and safer. Forty-seven people died in Harford County doing just that.
Wednesday, a permanent monument was unveiled to remember those who died testing and researching, like Major Beecher Dierdorff. His helicopter went down trying to rescue a pregnant woman during the 1966 blizzard.
The monument also honors 12 women who died in a 1945 explosion. And Lt. Wendell Phillips who died when his Handley Page Bomber broke and crashed. He managed to save five lives.
