Police were called to a Walmart store located at 645 South Philadelphia Boulevard around 7:50 p.m. for reports of a suicidal man Thursday evening.
When they arrived, police found the man sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot.
Police tried establishing contact with the individual, but the man did not respond to the efforts.
A perimeter around the store was set to ensure the safety of store patrons and the Crises Negotiation Team was called to the scene.
After failing to communicate with the individual, Harford County SWAT approached the car where they found the man suffering from head trauma.
Officers took immediate action, but the man was already dead.
Crime scene investigators determined the man sustained a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to the State Medical Examiner for further examination.
