Jessica Oliver, like many Marylanders, planned to spend Memorial Day weekend by the beach in Ocean City, Md.
She left her two dogs - a 6-year-old Jack Russell and a 3-month-old Blue Pitbull - with a friend. Sunday, May 29, her pups went missing. Oliver posted to Facebook hoping that someone would find her dogs.
"All of my neighbors here in my court were looking for my dogs and then I put it on the community Facebook page," Oliver said. I had tons of people reach out to me to say they were out looking for the dogs. My kids friends were out looking for the dogs."
Her dogs were found Monday, in garbage bags on Winters Run Road. Oliver said they had been shot before being placed in the garbage bags.
"It was about 11 last night when she came across a trash bag in a little ravine, and she pulled the trash bag up and she opened the bag up and it was my Jack Russell in the bag," she said. "My Jack Russell has a clear gunshot wound her side."
Blaze was added to the family after her children's father died. She said the puppy was a way to cope with his death.
Now, Chloe and Blaze are just memories.
According to the Harford County Sheriff's Office, the dogs were found between the 2700 and 3200 block of Winters Run Road. The Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of the two dogs to determine that cause.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Harford County Sheriff's Office at 410-838-6600.
