OCEAN CITY, Md. — A 69-year-old pilot was taken to the hospital suffering from minor injuries after his plane wound up upside down at the Ocean City Airport, Maryland State Police said.

The plane, a VANS RV-7A aircraft, flipped as it was trying to land at the airport. The pilot, a Virginia man, was the plane’s lone occupant. As the plane was landing, it flipped, sustaining unspecified damage.

Police said the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.

The crash occurred just a few days after another small plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean as beachgoers watched, some capturing gripping video.
