Ocean City Police say they are investigating after one of their officers struck a pedestrian on Friday evening at 9:30 p.m. Police say the officer was traveling east on 56th St and made a left turn onto northbound Coastal Highway before hitting a 26-year-old man from Connecticut.

The man was treated at the scene and then flown by Maryland State Police to Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He was released later that evening with minor injuries.

Police will continue to investigate; the officer had a green light and the pedestrian was legally in the crosswalk, according to a release. Police say neither the officer’s or pedestrian’s names will be released at this time.
