Easton fire causes $500k in damage

A fire in Easton, Md. leveled a house, causing an estimated $500,000 in damages, Saturday.

Shortly after midnight on May 19, fire officials responded to a fire call in the 6000 block of Hopkins Neck Road. The two-story, single-family, wood-frame home owned by Daniel and Pam Fitzgerald sustained roughly $400,000 in structural damages, and an additional $100,000 in property damage. 

The fire department arrived to find only a few walls of the structure still standing, but otherwise the property was destroyed. Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze. Anyone with information may call Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-822-7609.
