OCEAN CITY, Md (WMAR) — A 56-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a car in Ocean City.
The incident happened on Saturday just before 9 p.m. on Philadelphia Avenue near 28th Street.
Officials say Lorena D. Merris, of Landisburg, Pennsylvania was attempting to cross the street when a BMW 328i hit her in the southbound lane. She was flown by helicopter to Shock Trauma where she later died.
The driver of the BMW remained on scene. Investigators don't believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.
Traffic was diverted for around two hours while the scene was processed.
