FEDERALSBURG, Md. — A Sunday afternoon fire killed about 35,000 chickens in Caroline County.
It happened around 12:50pm along Reliance Road in Federalsburg.
That's where a 60 by 500 foot chicken house went up in flames.
It took nearly 90 minutes for crews to extinguish the fire, yet it was too late as all chickens died and their home destroyed.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal believes an electrical or mechanical failure inside the chicken house tunnel fan is to blame.
