Police investigating car crash that left pedestrian dead in Elkton

A pedestrian has been pronounced dead due to an accident that happened Sunday evening around 6:24 p.m. near Pulaski Highway and the intersection of Elkton Road.

At the scene, officials found a woman who was lying on the eastbound lanes of Pulaski Highway. They say the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by an Emergency Services personnel.

Investigators say a witnessed told them that the woman was wearing dark clothing in a no-light area on Pulaski Highway when a 2004 Infinity struck the woman on the road. Officials believe after the car hit the woman, a number of vehicles struck the woman as well.

The eastbound lanes of Pulaski Highway between Old Elk Neck Road and Elkton Road remain closed at this time due to the investigation. 

Officials are still investigating the incident.
