A man is dead and his son is seriously injured after a two-car crash on Route 140 in Westminster Friday morning.

Around 8:30 a.m., a GMC driven by Jordan Culbertson was driving westbound on Route 140 when a Ford that was in the median attempted to cross.

The Ford, driven by 75-year-old Thomas Blanton Sr., failed to yield right of way and was hit in the passenger side door by the GMC. Blanton's son, 35-year-old Thomas Blanton Jr., was in the passenger seat at the time.

Troopers got to the scene and helped both Blanton Sr. and Jr. before transporting them to the hospital. Blanton Sr. was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital and Blanton Jr's condition is still unknown at this time. Officials say based on the injuries observed at the scene, Blanton Jr. has life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the GMC, Culbertson, was not seriously injured.

Route 140 was closed while troopers investigated for two hours. The investigation is still ongoing and if you have any information, call the Westminster Barrack at (410) 386-3000.
