The Maryland Natural Resources Police says a body recovered from the Chester River in Chestertown is that of a missing man.

Maryland Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson said Saturday that the man is 31-year-old David Dupree Jr. of Chestertown, who was reported missing Monday. His body was recovered from the river on New Year's Day.

Thomson said that officials were called around 1:30 p.m. after a couple out walking saw Dupree's body floating in the river at the foot of High Street in Chestertown. Thomson said Dupree had lived nearby.

Thomson said Dupree's family identified his body and that an autopsy has been performed, but his cause and manner of death had not yet been released.
