87-year-old pedestrian struck, killed by teen driver in Taneytown

TANEYTOWN, Md. (WMAR) — An 87-year-old man is dead after being struck by a teen driver Tuesday evening in Taneytown.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Francis Scott Key Highway.

Arriving Carroll County Sheriff's Deputies found the injured pedestrian, identified as Ray Angell Copenhaver.

He was taken to Shock Trauma, where he later died.

The teen driver wasn't injured and remained on scene, to try and help the victim after he was hit.

No charges have been filed at this time. Police didn't say who was at fault.
