Water service was turned back on Monday afternoon following an 8-inch water main break in the 100 block of Dumbarton Road near the Rodgers Forge Apartments in the morning.

Officials with the Department of Public Works responded to the incident at Stevenson Lane and Dumbarton Road, where a Chevy Malibu got trapped in a sinkhole caused by the break.

About 137 units are affected due to the water main break, according to City Water Official Jefferey Raymond. Residents were without water for several hours Monday and Dumbarton Road remained closed until shortly after 5 p.m.

Raymond advises those water users to run their water until it turns clear and remove the small screen from their faucets so sediment can come through the pipe.

For questions of concerns residents in the county can call 410-396-5352.

This follows a water main repair that shut down Mulberry Street in Downtown Baltimore in July. The sink holes are just the latest instance of failing infrastructure in the area.

ABC2 has a call in to County Public Works to ask about their water line renewal program.
