The Marriott Hotel at Towson University will be converted to student housing by the fall of 2018.

University president Kim Schatzel made the announcement during her Spring Address Thursday, saying the change is in response to a demand for on-campus housing and will help offset a 2,000 to 2,500 bed shortage.

The university will end its agreement with Marriott once their contract ends in June 2018. The new housing structure will reopen fall of 2018.
