Two people in Baltimore County are behind bars in connection with a rash of package thefts.

Among the stolen items, police found a handmade quilt with a heartfelt inscription sewn into and the detectives are hoping to reunite it with its owner.

The quilt was among a number of stolen items recovered during the investigation. The other items were purchased online and could be replaced.

The thefts began in early-December with the most recent theft tied to the couple being on January 12. Police say the two are responsible for at least 40 package thefts.

Kenneth Sutphin, 33, and Kimberly Brooks, 33,  are charged with package thefts in eastern Baltimore County and neighboring jurisdictions.

Baltimore County police found the two suspects and the stolen items at the Deluxe Plaza Motel in the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway.

The investigation into Sutphin and Brooks started with a stolen package call in the 9600 block of Trepid Road in Parkville.

Police were able to get surveillance video of the suspects and their car. They were then tied to package thefts in other neighborhoods.

Sutphin and Brooks were eventually tracked down at that hotel. Police believe they are responsible for at least 40 package thefts.

Sutphin and Brooks are now charged in Baltimore County with numerous counts of 4th Degree Burglary, Grand Theft, Theft between $100 - $1500, and Theft Under $100. Sutphin is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
