Police: Officer fired round that hit 5-year-old boy during standoff

Baltimore County police believe an officer fired the round that hit a 5-year-old boy during a deadly standoff in Randallstown this week.

Police said the tactical officer aimed at, and hit, 23-year-old Korryn Gaines she aimed her Mossberg shotgun at him, threatening to kill him. She was fatally shot after a six-hour standoff with police.

Her son, 5-year-old Kodi Gaines, was also shot, and based on a medical procedure performed Friday at Johns Hopkins Children's Center, police believe a round fired by a tactical officer is the one that hit the boy. His injury was to the cheek.
