Pedestrian hit and killed at Maryland Welcome Center and Rest Area on southbound I-95

PIKESVILLE, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash at the Maryland Welcome Center and Rest Area on southbound I-95.

According to the preliminary investigation, the crash, which involved a tractor trailer and a pedestrian, happened on Sunday at around 2:20 p.m.

For unknown reasons, a man walked onto the highway and was hit by a tractor trailer. He died following that collision.

Maryland Coordinated Highways Action Response Team, Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, Crash Team Investigators and Maryland State Police Forensics Investigators are all currently on the scene.

All lanes on I-95 southbound, at the rest stop area, have now been reopened and there are no other reported injuries.

This investigation is ongoing.
