PIKESVILLE, Md (WMAR) — Drivers should expect pretty big delays on Reisterstown Road near the I-695 interchange starting Monday.

BGE is upgrading the electric grid and parts will be closed down through April.

While BGE works on the center portion of Reisterstown Road, traffic will be detoured from turning left onto Hooks Lane from southbound Reisterstown Road and one lane of northbound Reisterstown Road will also be closed. This is on a heavily trafficked part of the road just north of 695.

BGE says around 55,000 cars travel this section of road every day so drivers should expect delays.

BGE says the work is necessary to repair circuits under the road and maintain system reliability.

MDOT SHA will provide a detour route for drivers trying to turn onto Hooks Lane. BGE plans to complete the update in late April, weather-permitting.
