Where there's a volunteer fire house, there's a summer carnival to support it. Except in Owings Mills. the 90-year ride is over.

The Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Department announced last month that they would no longer be able to host their annual Fireman's Carnival.

The annual carnival has been at Owings Mills Mall for the last several years. The event, usually held in June, was the department's single largest fundraiser brining in an average of $40,000.

According to their website, the pending plans to demolish Owings Mills Mall made the location unavailable for the carnival.

So there will be no cotton candy, no funnel cake and no tea cups.

“I don’t know what we are going to do”, said Marci Catlett from the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Department.

The department has scheduled several fundraising events in an effort to make up the funds, like "Fill the Boots" June 14-25. You'll see fire boots lining Owings Mills Boulevard and Reisterstown Road waiting to be filled with funds. You can also donate online.
