Thursday marks eight years since Yeardley Love of Cockeysville was found beaten to death in her apartment at the University of Virginia.
Her ex-boyfriend, George Huguely, was eventually found guilty of her murder, so her family started the One Love Foundation in her honor.
On Thursday, the One Love Foundation is asking for donations to help raise $250,000 for educating teens about relationship abuse.
Please join us this #OneLoveGivingDay as we share stories from remarkable young people across the country who are educating their peers around this issue and growing One Love's work. Love's mom Sharon started the One Love Foundation not long after her daughter's death in 2010. The purpose is to educate young people, especially college students, about the warning signs of relationship abuse. They've made cartoons for younger audiences to explain what a healthy and unhealthy relationship looks like, and there are a lot of resources on the website if teens think they may be in an abusive relationship.
In a video posted on the One Love Twitter page, Sharon Love says they've shared their escalation workshop to a quarter million students and have reached more than 900 college campuses since the foundation started.
Sharon says she knows Yeardley would be very proud of the work they're doing in her honor.
