A fire broke out at Maryland State Police Headquarters in Pikesville Tuesday.

No injuries were reported.

Baltimore County fire crews were dispatched to the 1201 Reisterstown Road location around 6:15 p.m. and quickly brought the fire under control. The fire was put out by 6:45 p.m.

According to investigators, the bulk of the fire was contained to a single room of the basement. Heat, soot and smoke damage was reported.

The fire was started after an electric fan failed and ignited nearby combustibles inside the unoccupied room, investigators said. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
