A new initiative hopes to take a bite out of hunger and the need for fresh foods in Baltimore County.

Produce for the People is breaking ground on its new greenhouse that will grow produce at the County's Center for Maryland Agriculture and Farm Park in Cockeysville.

The greenhouse is estimated to produce 500,000 to 600,0000 pounds of fresh produce that will go to local food banks, homeless shelters, and school cafeterias.

The new greenhouse also aims to help programs like the Baltimore County Master Gardners, the Future Harvest New Farmer Program, the Maryland Agricultural Resource Council, and therapeutic gardening programs for older children and adults with mental and physical disabilities.
