A fire ripped through a vacant building in Pikesville Wednesday night.

Crews were called to Prince George Road near Liberty Road to put out the fire.

The Pikesville Swim Club opened here in 1966, but decades of neglect and blight have made it barely recognizable.

The 3,000 square foot club house at some point over the years was converted into a private residence, but was later abandoned bore the brunt of the damage.

Fire crews arrived on the scene at about 10 p.m. Wednesday, and much of the structure was engulfed in flames.

No one was injured.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
