The family of a woman shot and killed by police following an hours-long standoff has filed suit against the Baltimore County Police Department.

Attorneys for the family of Korryn Gaines contend police shot Gaines, not out of fear, but out of frustration.
"We believe that Korryn Gaines was assassinated on this day because she was against police brutality, she took a stand against police brutality," J. Wyndal Gordon, the Gaines family attorney, said.
The county and police investigations into the Aug. 1 shooting have not yet been completed.
