Extra police at Perry Hall High after fight involving gun

A fight involving a gun reportedly broke out in the parking lot at Perry Hall High School, and now the school's reaction is sparking outrage online.

On Thursday, an email went out to parents acknowledging an incident in the school parking lot, it also said there will be an additional police presence at the school on Friday. But the email fails to say anything about a gun brandished during that fight. Parents say the robocall did talk about a weapon.

Baltimore County Councilman David Marks is an alumnus of Baltimore County's largest public school and a huge advocate. Overnight he wrote a scathing criticism of the school's handling of this situation. He said he's had it, and while he just congratulated the school band's trip to Disney World, all the good work done by outstanding students is overshadowed by the few troublemakers.

He said students who bring a gun to campus, or a replica, should be expelled and charged as an adult.

The principal said a police investigation is underway and there's no credible threat to anyone at the school at this point.

ABC2 spoke with parents and students at PHHS, some were concerned about the fight and that a gun was involved, while others said it happens often. Some students were scared to go to school, asking their parents if they had to go Friday morning.
