TOWSON, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating the cause of a deadly crash on I-695 Sunday morning.
According to State Police, troopers were called after midnight to investigate a reported single vehicle crash on the outer loop of I-695 at Exit 28, Providence Road.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team discovered through their investigation that the driver lost control of his vehicle, overturned and was ejected. Investigators say the two passengers inside the car were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore County with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers say the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the hospital. They say the driver's body will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy and identification.
MDOT State Highway Administration personnel arrived on the scene to detour traffic on the highway and onto Providence Road. All lanes reopened at 4:08 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
