Baltimore County has used $5 million of its $6 million budget designated for snow removal this year.

Officials told ABC2 that six weather events hit the area, costing the county $3 million.

The county paid an additional $2 million for salt to fill two new salt barns' reserves.

One barn is located Hernwood on the west side of the county, while the second is on the eastern end at the Eastern Sanitary Landfill, county spokesperson Lauren Watley said.

Baltimore County budgets $6 million each year for storm-related costs, yet Watley said “this is always just a place marker since the weather will dictate how much needs to be spent in a fiscal year.”
