Baltimore County school day lengthened by 5 minutes

Posted

The school day in Baltimore County will increase by five minutes for the 2018-19 school year, according to a waiver agreement with the Maryland State Department of Education.

To deal was needed to resolve scheduling conflicts created by the county school district canceling more than three days of school in 2017-18, thus putting them in jeopardy of not completing the state required 1,170 high school hours by the scheduled end date of the school year.

The Department of Education required the district to extend the school day for the coming year as part of the waiver agreement. Start and end times for schools for the 2018-19 year will be shared at the conclusion of the current school year.
