Authorities said this happened just after 11:15 a.m. on Rossville Boulevard and Pulaski Highway.
Firefighters were raising money for The Muscular Dystrophy Association’s “Fill the Boot” campaign, when the fire lieutenant was hit by a vehicle.
The lieutenant was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The “Fill the Boot” campaign will continue, though Fire Chief Kyrle W. Preis III reminds personnel to be vigilant when it comes to safety during the collection process.
