John Smith and his family are on a mission to help Baltimore's homeless pets.

The 91-year-old has participated in 18 March for the Animal events benefiting the Maryland SPCA. His daughter, Jenny Powers, explained that Smith has always loved dogs but didn't always have them around.

"My dad was not allowed to have dogs. My mother did not want a dog in the house," Power said.

Smith found a way to have the animals he loved in his life, though, by visiting the Maryland SPCA and the homeless pets there.

For the past 21 years, the Maryland SPCA has held a March for the Animals. Almost every year, Smith has attended. He's one of the event's longtime participants. His daughter and her family are now in on the fun.
