Christmas is just 10 days away, but one 9-year-old boy is thinking more about helping others than what’s under the tree.

Josh Springston of Dundalk is working to make the holidays brighter for those who don’t have a home. Last year, he started collecting donations and filling “Blessing Bags” for the homeless with toiletries and snacks.

He’s back at it this Christmas season and is expanding his offerings, collecting toys, toiletries, winter weather gear and blankets.

The young philanthropist has three drop-off boxes located at the Dundalk Police Precinct, and at Kiddie Crusoe locations in Timonium and Belcamp where locals can contribute supplies for the Blessing Bags.

He’s also collecting donations through GoFundMe and has scheduled several dates for donations made in person.

Springston will set up at the Target in Middle River Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Donations are accepted through Dec. 23.

He made 135 Blessing Bags in 2015.
