One man is dead and his wife has minor injuries after a fire broke out in their apartment Monday afternoon, fire officials say.

According to the Baltimore County Fire Department, crews were called to a two-alarm fire in the unit block of Athenry Court just after 2:00 p.m.

When they got to the scene, firefighters forced their way into the apartment and found Theodis Pinchback, 73, in a bedroom. Crews evacuated Pinchback from the apartment immediately, where EMS crews gave cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other treatments before transporting him to the hospital.

Pinchback's wife returned home shortly after the fire started. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening medical issues.

Baltimore County Police fire investigators believe the fire was accidental and began in the kitchen.
