Ava just turned four and for her birthday, she told her mom that she didn't want any gifts, but instead wanted to help the police.

She set out to collect money for "Protect our K9's," which gives police dogs protective vests. She raised $2,250, enough to protect three dogs.

Ava and her family presented Sean Gahagan, founder of "Protect our K9's," with a check Monday at Manor Tavern.
