2 local men honored with Louis S. Diggs award

Two local men received an award honoring their African American heritage Thursday.

Audrey Simmons and Ray Banks were given the Louis S. Diggs award in Baltimore County.

The award was named after Diggs for his role and perspective in the African American community in Baltimore County.

Simmons and Banks were given the award for creating the Hubert V. Simmons Museum of Negro Leagues Baseball, which is housed in the Owings Mills Library.
